Chapter 14

Minato Namikaze sighed as he pulled his boots on.
Today’s the day
The hokage thought as he walked out of his bedroom. He walked quietly into his young adopted son’s room. He stood at the doorway and just stared at the boy sleeping.
I can’t believe………Damn…..To kill his brother………..is just like killing him….
Minato sighed. “Hey…...Minato?”
The hokage heard a soft voice as he turned to leave. He turned around and saw Kakashi sitting up, staring him dead in the eyes. “You going to……you know….Ani-“Kakashi choked on the last word. “Kakashi I-““I want to go with you.” Kakashi said trying to hide how badly his voice was shaking.  Minato looked somewhat surprised that Kakashi wanted to go to see his brother get killed. He frowned. “If….if you want to……..then I guess….. I guess you can come.” Minato whispered. Kakashi bolted out of bed and got dressed quickly. “Kakashi are you sure you want to-““I’m sure Minato.”


Minato felt very uneasy. He and Kakashi where walking down the halls of the hospital, not to far from Senji’s room. The two hadn’t spoken a word since they left the house. And Kushina was supposed to meet them in front of the hospital, but she was no where to be seen. As the two turned a corner Minato ran into Kushina. “Oh my god Minato. Thank God you’re here.” Kushina said out of breath. Minato caught her in a quick kiss and grew serious. “What’s wrong?” he whispered. Kushina looked down at Kakashi and gave Minato a “what-is-he-doing-here?” look. Minato shook his head.  “Can I talk to you…..alone?” Kushina said somewhat nervously. Her husband nodded. He gave Kakashi a “stay-right-here” look. Minato and Kushina walked down the hall.
“What is it Kushina?”
“Senji…….he…..well just as the medics where getting ready for you to pull the plugs, he showed signs of consciousness. A number of the medics saw him twitch and all.” Kushina said barely loud enough for the man in front of her to hear.
“What are they doing with him now?” Minato whispered looking over Kushina’s shoulder to Kakashi. They boy was walking around staring at the ground.
“They’re operating; they’re trying hard to get him to full consciousness. If this works then he’ll live fine and well. If it doesn’t………” Kushina closed her eyes “Minato if this doesn’t work then Senji’s either gonna end up crippled, or paralyzed.”
Minato collapsed into a chair behind him. He rubbed his forehead. “No……this has to work……it just has to. Kushina I want you to go in there and do it yourself. Don’t leave it to the medics. Do it yourself.” Minato said quietly. Kushina nodded and put a hand on her husband’s shoulder. “This operation is going to take up a massive amount of chakra. I-I might not be able to make it. You take over then…..ok? It’s gonna be ok Minato. Please don’t worry yourself too much.” She turned around and left. Just as she took her hand off of his shoulder, he reached to grab her wrist, but was too late. Kushina bounded off and nothing was to stop her now. Minato almost yelled out her name. Pleading her to stop. It seemed kind of stupid to him considering he was the one that told her to go. But if it took her away from him……he swore he would die. “Kushina……”

“Sensei…….I’m sorry.” Kakashi whispered as he looked over to his sensei who was sitting next to him. The blonde’s eyes where bloodshot and slightly puffy. Minato looked at his student and sighed. “Sorry for what?”
“For being a burden on you.” Kakashi whispered. Minato tried real hard to give the boy a decent smile. He took a deep breath and sat up straight. “I don’t know about you but I need a hug” He said quietly. His voice sounded hoarse from lack of use in the past 2 days. Kakashi didn’t hesitate to embrace his sensei’s welcoming arms. Tears began to flow down his cheeks. “Sensei….. I don’t want anything to happen to Aniki or Kushina-san………” he whispered. “Nothing’s gonna happen to them” Minato lied. He wished he could believe both of them would be perfectly fine.  
Suddenly a medic walked out of the room in front of them; Senji’s room.
Minato jumped up. “How is he?! And Kushina?!” he practically screamed. “Senji-kun…..he…he’s awake” the medic smiled. “Kushina-samma passed out from lack of chakra, but she just needs some rest. If you want you can visit both of them in a little while.” She said and walked away. Minato gave a massive ecstatic sigh of relief. “Kakashi! They Did It!!!!!!!!!!. KAKASHI THEY DID IT!!!! THEY’RE SAFE!!!!!”  Minato screamed, he ran up to Kakashi and picked the boy up. “While we wait, I’ll treat you to ramen kid.” Minato yelled as he walked off with the boy. The grin on both of their faces was incredible. And the relief in their hearts was unimaginable.
